Over 100 years from its establishment, JIPII is concerned to encourage invention and disseminate the system of industrial property, and contributes to advance and develop science technology in Japan consistently.

- Established the Association for the Protection of Industrial Property

- Authorized as a non-profit corporate juridical party

- Changed name to Imperial Institute of Invention and Innovation

- The first “National Commendation for Invention”

- Recognized as a public interest group through receipt of a medal
from the Prime Minister’s Decoration Bureau - 1936
- Reorganized by unifying invention-encouraging organizations that the existed throughout Japan, and H.I.H. Prince Takamatsu appointed as Patron
- 1941
- Beginning of “Contest of Schoolchildren's Inventions”
- 1947
- Renamed to Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation (JIII)
- 1964
- Recognized as a special public benefit corporation
- 1968
- H.I.H. Prince Hitachi appointed as Patron

- Beginning of “Industrial Property Training Course”

- The first Invention Club for Schoolchildren was established
