Intellectual Property Rights Lecturer Association (APHKI) from Indonesia visited APIC-JIPII

　The members of APHKI visited APIC-JIPII on October 31, 2022. In the morning, they took the seminar, and in the afternoon, they visited Japan Patent Office (JPO) and met our chairman, Mr. IWAI at Asia-Pacific Industrial Property Center (APIC).
　About half of members are the former participants of JPO/IPR training courses including IP Collegium member. Among the former participants, there are many persons who were the lecturers of university, IP experts, and now be in the higher position in universities, governments, and law firms, etc. Especially, the lecturers specialized in IP at universities established an organization, APHKI, and keep exchanging the information. In order to continue the result of training in Japan, they planned to visit the related organizations in Japan at their cost, and upgrade their knowledge in this time.

　In the morning seminar, Dr. OKUYAMA Shoichi, OKUYAMA & SASAJIMA, former President of Japan Patent Attorneys Association (JPAA), Lecturer of JPO/IPR training courses, gave a lecture “Progress of IP Applications at JPO and its Relation to Japan Economy during Pandemic”. Then, Ms. SUGIMURA Junko, SUGIMURA, TAMURA & PARTNERS International Patent & Trade Mark Office, current President of JPAA, Lecturer of JPO/IPR training course, gave a lecture “IP High Court and Japanese Judge System”. These topics were proposed from APHKI.
　The members arrived at APIC earlier than scheduled. So, Dr. Okuyama started his lecture earlier than scheduled, but there were so many questions that the end time was extended beyond the scheduled time. Also, many questions were asked to Ms. SUGIMURA, so she answered to them by extending the time. However, the lecturers were happy to answer such many questions in detail.

　In the afternoon, they visited JPO, and met the director of international cooperation division, and some former JICA experts, who stayed in Indonesia. And, they also visited at National Center for Industrial Property Information and Training (INPIT) and Trial Court. Then, they backed to APIC, and met our chairman, Mr. IWAI Yoshiyuki and exchange opinions with him. He gave a message to encourage their works.
　This Japan tour was planned as the memorial of establishment of APHKI. They went to Kansai area next day, and visited the places like university, etc. We are happy that they selected JIPII as one of visited places among many IP related organizations. We hope they were satisfied with this visit, though the time was limited. And also we hope the seminars and visits at JPO and JIPII may help the IP education and for young generation learning IP in Indonesia. We pray for their successes in their careers.
