IP Collegium meeting was held in Tokyo
JIPII held the Meeting of IP Collegium in November 6 (Wed), and two members of IP Collegium gave lectures at Patent Information Fair and Conference (PIFC) in November 7 (Thu) and 8 (Fri), 2019.
The members visited Asia-Pacific Industrial Property Center (APIC) and saw the training course “JPO/IPR Operational Patent Examination Training Program (OPET)” and present APIC facilities. Most of IP collegium members were the former training participants. So, they saw the class with interest and encouraged the course participants from same country, cherishing their past training days.
The meeting was held in the afternoon, and 25 members from 11 countries attended. The theme was “IP Education for Students”, and 7 speakers from 6 countries gave presentations, and had discussions with all members.
At the last of program, the Signing Ceremony for the Statute of IP Collegium, which was made since last year. Based on the statute, the first General Assembly was held and three members of Board were decided.

In November 7 (Thu), next day of meeting, the IP Collegium members visited PIFC at Science Museum, and saw various exhibition booths. We hope they could get the latest information of patent and IP, and new products or new technology information related in IP in Japan. Then, Mr. Insan Budi Maulana from Indonesia, one of the members of IP Collegium, gave a lecture titled “Patent and Trademark Protection in Indonesia” to Japanese IP practitioners. The other members also attended at his lecture.
In November 8 (Fri), Mr. Tran Huu Tra from Vietnam, one of the members of IP Collegium, gave a lecture titled “IP System and Points of Attention When Expanding the Business in Vietnam” to Japanese IP practitioners.
More than 100 Japanese IP practitioners attended the both of lectures.
